Will There Be a Direct Line of Communication With the Team?

Wondering if you’ll have a direct line of communication with the team of realtors helping you buy or sell a home? Communication is key in any real estate transaction.

As a client, it’s important for you to communicate your goals and expectations for the sale or purchase. And on your realtor’s side, they’ll need to communicate consistently to keep you updated about the progress of the transaction.

In this post, we’ll answer some common questions about what you can expect communication-wise from your realtor.

Will There Be a Direct Line of Communication With the Team?

Yes, it’s common for clients to have a direct line of communication with their realtors. Once you agree to work with the agent, they’ll give you their business contact information so you have a way to reach them directly. This includes their email address and phone number.

Direct communication with your realtor fosters a strong working relationship and ensures that you receive timely and personalized assistance for your questions and concerns. It also makes it easy to receive updates related to your real estate transaction.

In most cases, you’ll only have contact information for your realtor– not any other members of the real estate team or brokerage.

How Do You Communicate With Your Real Estate Agent?

During your initial consultation with your realtor, you’ll both discuss your communication preferences and availability. That way, you can have clear expectations about how and when to communicate with each other.

First, the realtor will let you know about their business hours and the best times of day to get in touch with them. Then, they’ll go over the communication channels you can use to reach them, such as their phone number, email address, or social media messaging apps. They’ll also ask which channels you prefer using.

Next, you both might discuss specific protocols or processes for communication, such as what situations are better suited to a phone call and which can be handled over text.

How Frequently Can I Expect to Communicate With the Real Estate Team?

How frequently you can expect to communicate with your real estate team depends on your specific situation. For example, you might need to reach out to your agent multiple times per day if you’re in the middle of scheduling multiple inspectors, contractors, photographers, and stagers to your home.

But in general, you can communicate with your realtor as much or as little as you’d like. One way to communicate with your realtor is to ask for weekly or bi-weekly check-ins to update you about the progress of your sale or purchase.

If you think check-ins are unnecessary, you can stick to communicating only when a significant milestone is reached during the transaction. This can include scheduling property showings, scheduling open houses, or discussing offers from buyers. These types of milestones often require more immediate and detailed communication anyways.

Of course, no matter how often you prefer communicating your realtor will always be available for questions. They’ll maintain an open line of communication to address any questions or concerns you have during the process.

Who Will Be My Main Point of Contact Within the Real Estate Team?

The main point of contact within the real estate team is your realtor, since they will have the most knowledge about your situation.

Outside of your realtor, there are other real estate professionals you’ll communicate with regularly. Along with your realtor, these professionals can also be considered part of your real estate team. These professionals include your lender, home inspectors, contractors, home insurance agents, and real estate attorneys.

How Quickly Can I Expect a Response From the Team When I Reach Out With Questions or Concerns?

Response times will vary depending on the realtor and their schedule. Many realtors do their best to respond to their clients promptly. Most agents will try to respond immediately, or if not, at least within the same day. During your initial real estate consultation, your realtor will discuss how soon you can expect them to respond to your messages.

Can I Schedule Regular Check-In Meetings or Calls With the Real Estate Team?

Yes, you can schedule regular check-in meetings with your realtor. These meetings can be used to discuss anything about your transaction, including:

  • Updates and progress on your sale or purchase
  • Questions or concerns you have
  • Scheduling times for inspectors, stagers, and contractors
