Ruel’s big dream is to finish school excellently but his condition of locked knees has stopped him from attending school. Medical care is limited in his home and it is hard to receive the attention he needs when living in a remote area of the Philippines. Ruel was able to receive some care but it didn’t improve his condition and he continued to go about his day to day with locked knees.
When his family found out about treatment in a different city, there was concern due to the lack of finances. Hope came about when a medical team from the Tebow CURE Children’s Hospital came to Ruel’s town. Even though people in his community discouraged him and his family to move forward with the surgery and help from CURE, Ruel made the decision to undergo surgery. Through the surgery and recovery, Ruel and his family experienced love and value from the team at CURE and gave them more hope for the future.
